You know,
sometimes I feel pretty certain that I suck as a homemaker.
I roll out of bed each morning at the last possible second. I don't like housework, or find it remotely rewarding. I seem to only do a really good job cleaning the house right before someone is coming over, and I really do prefer to spend a LOT of time looking things up on the computer. Oh--and I'm ALWAYS forgetting important school stuff for the kids.
Sigh.
Sometimes I imagine what other, more efficient moms must be like.
Maybe it's a little bit like this...
and I start my day like this
And I'll bet those other moms are like THIS two hours before company arrives
and this is me in the last FRANTIC two hours before company is coming:
Good moms have a firm grasp on what's going DOWN at their kids' school.
and then there's me...
and let's not speak of THIS
A good mother serves delicious dinners, with each of the four food groups represented.
but damn--sometimes I'm tired, and SICK of cooking!!!
OH well.
I'm with you. And we had breakfast for dinner last night, too.
ReplyDeletehooray for us then!
DeleteOn Monday, my children had sandwiches for dinner. I got fancy and put cheese on them too.
ReplyDeleteyou got fancy! LOL, LISA! It makes me feel better though :)
DeleteYou have just posted me. Not the yellow haired one of course. I always, forgot, field trip money. Worse, I walked out and left my daughters grad, because I thought it was over. I misunderstood the mountains of intructions on the forms even though I paid for tickets. ugh. i really suck.
ReplyDeleteI could totally see that being me, re; your daughter's grad. Oh yes. OH well, at least we're in the same boat!
DeleteErr, have you been spying on me, Karen? You have, haven't you!
ReplyDeleteHope it makes you feel better to know that for every Annoyingly Perfect Mother, there are several more of us Merely Human Mums. xxxx
HUMAN MUMS! Yes, that is the new way I'll look at it, but I still wonder if everyone else shuns housework as much as I do.
DeleteIt's her perfect mascara I can't stand.
ReplyDeleteand her hair salon hilights!!!!
Deletehaha! Love this. I, too, am a bad mom. I joined the PTA and have never attended a single meeting. I don't even open their emails.
ReplyDeleteThe best part is that you don't open their emails. That speaks to me in ways that I can't even begin to explain, because I GET IT. I so get it.
DeleteI love the bags under the mom's eyes when she's in bed sleeping late. That was totally me when the kids were younger. I didn't have it in me to get up b/4 5 minutes b/4 school started. It was always a mad dash. I'm slightly better now, but I've had a decade to work on it. I also love the typeface of your blog. It's perfect for it.
ReplyDeletethanks! I was unnaturally excited about the font when I discovered it as well. Yeah, I wish I could be one of those moms who is UP and coiffed at a decent hour, but clearly I don't wish it enough.
DeleteDo those high efficiency moms even exist? Life is give and take, so I'm pretty sure if she's perfect at all the homemaking stuff, some other part of her life is sucking. Like she can't ever match her concealer to her skin tone or something ;)
